Courtney Lokken for River City Youth Hockey - River City Youth Hockey (RCYH) is a not for profit, parent-run organization affiliated with USA Hockey, Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA), and Wisconsin-Minnesota Hockey League (WMHL). RCYH is dedicated to providing a fun, safe, and encouraging environment for La Crosse area boys and girls ages 3-14 to participate in hockey.
Their goal is to develop members not only as individual hockey players, but also as teammates and growing adults. They strive to instill in their players leadership, respect, good sportsmanship, self-discipline, commitment, hard work, personal growth, positive attitude and character. These qualities along with the athletic development of hockey are supported for all players of all skill levels, and through scholarships, any child in La Crosse can play hockey regardless of socioeconomic barriers.
In addition to providing youth hockey, RCYH fully operates Green Island Ice Arena, La Crosse's only indoor ice rink. In 2019, the city slated Green Island for closure, jeopardizing the future of ice hockey and figure skating in La Crosse. RCYH intervened and assumed full operational control of the rink to safeguard this vital community asset. In addition to their La Crosse Flames hockey program, RCYH provides ice for Parks & Rec Figure Skating, Coulee Region Stars Girls Hockey, Coulee Region Sled Hockey, UW-L Men’s Hockey, adult leagues, public skates, school field trips, and more.
Nyhus Schaffer for Chariots4Hope-Wisconsin - Chariots4Hope is a faith-based, non-profit organization that supports low-income families and individuals to maintain self-sufficiency through reliable transportation and RIDE programs.
Michael Scott for The Parenting Place - The Parenting Place is a place for all who care for young children. Our resources prepare, strengthen, and support parents and caregivers by creating greater understanding of the impact they have on the lives of children in their care. Through such increased understanding, children will have a positive, supportive, and loving start in life.
Shaundel Washington-Spivey for Black Leaders Acquiring Collective Knowledge (B.L.A.C.K.) - BLACK works to empower and elevate the Greater La Crosse Black Community through innovative leadership, education, and advocacy. Black Leaders Acquiring Collective Knowledge will develop a sustainable community where Black people can heal, live authentically, feel safe, and have real access to opportunities.
DeeAnn Romanowski and Britni Walz for EndAlz Fest Foundation - ENDALZ Fest Foundation's purpose is to provide support, services, and education to individuals, families, caregivers that are affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia in the Coulee Region. The foundation will engage in supportive efforts to other related organizations with a similar mission and vision.
EndAlz Foundation is honored to launch two new local programs in 2024! SPARK! on the GO! And Oasis Memory Camp (beginning May 1 @ The Nature Place). All proceeds from this campaign are shared with Our beloved Coulee Region Giving Hearts Choir whose members are living with memory loss or they are a caregiver or volunteer working with those with memory loss.
