Amy Mills is Alexander Platt’s predecessor as Music Director of the LSO; Bobby Levinger grew up in the Coulee Region, and distinguished himself both in our LSO “Rising Stars” competition several years ago, and most recently scored a great success with his return to the orchestra in December 2019 in Prokofiev’s First Piano Concerto. Daniel Birnschein is the LSO’s admired principal trumpet. Composed in the darkest days of the Second World War, the Swiss composer Arthur Honegger’s Second Symphony rises out of its tragic mood to one of the most thrilling conclusions in 20th-century music.
